I get it! Life happens. You are gliding along on your journey and suddenly the storm of life engulfs you and everything around you. Everyone's storms in life can vary. Lost of a loved one, friend or job. Loneliness. Depression. Illness. Financial Hardship or even as far as Natural Disasters or Epidemics. No matter the storm, they can indeed cause a lot of damage. But did you know the eye of the storm is the calmest? You can find peace in the midst of a storm. We can't control "the wind", that is something greater than us. But we can adjust our sail, and that is what finding peace in the midst of a storm is.
So I can hear the questions. How can I find peace when I am ill? How can I find peace when I lost my someone special? How can find peace in loneliness? How can find peace in depression? How can I find peace when I lost my job? How can I find peace in the midst of a global epidemic?
By adjusting your sail to get in the eye of storm and not allowing fear, doubt, despair or panic to rule your life.
We all have choices. We can be controlled by fear or we can be controlled by faith. The Law of Attraction is working whether we are experiencing a storm or not. Whatever you focus on or give your attention to, you will receive more of that, so we have to move away from the storm and focus on the eye of the storm and experience the power of peace within.
When this happens, you will be able to live a life of peace, despite what is happening around you. In this blog post, I wanted to send you some encouragement and offer 9 practical (and super simple) things you can do to help experience peace in the midst of a storm in your life.
Meditation is such a powerful, yet simple tool to experience peace on a daily basis. I've been meditating for years and I can't simply think of going a day without meditating. I often get asked, "LT, you are always so peaceful and calm. I never see you get mad or angry. What is your secret?" Meditation. Although meditation can be used as a reactive approach to life's storms, I highly recommend utilizing meditation as a proactive approach.
Unfortunately, we don't have a crystal ball in front of us, so when life storms happen, you will already be equipped with the power from within to handle it. You will be able to maintain focus, clarity, and a peace of mind despite what is happening around you.

Being Present - Mindfulness
Being present is a powerful way to just "be still and leg go" and appreciate the beauty around you. Practicing mindfulness is a way to "be present" and aware of what's around you, but not being overwhelmed by it. It's a way to experience peace and centeredness.
Many practice mindfulness and being present in the state of meditation, but this can be done without meditating. Just simply "being" can make a whole lot of difference in the midst of a storm.
Affirmations & Subliminal Messages
Even though your thoughts have power, did you know that your words have power to? I wrote a blog post, "The Power of Your Words" where I explained the power of your words. Do you remember when you received a compliment? How did that make you feel? Words have power, so utilize this power for your advantage. If you are sick or ill, declare words of healing and health. I love this that Rhonda Byrne wrote in an email. It was so beautiful, I had to share it with you. So often we feel powerless, but be empowered with this:
I want to remind you of your infinite power, and remind you to use it for your health! Here’s how: Think thoughts of health. Speak words about health. Be grateful for health. Say, “Thank you for my health,” in your mind multiple times in the day. Whenever you hear anyone speak of something that is not health, secretly in your mind repeat, “Thank you for my health. Thank you for everyone’s health.”
Remember not to empower something you don’t want by giving it your attention, because it inflames it and makes it bigger. So, with gratitude, let’s say: “Thank you for my health, thank you for the health of my friends and family, thank you for the health of everyone in my city, and thank you for the health of everyone in the world!" Now we’re really using our infinite power for what it was meant for - the good of everyone!

Be Positive - Eliminate Negativity
Being positive in a negative situation can be challenging, but remember, its always a choice you can make. Surround yourself with positive people. Ever noticed, if you are around someone who is negative all the time, their energy will eventually drain you.
Stay away from negativity at all costs. The news and media is overwhelmingly negative, yet so many of us stay glued to the TV or internet feeding our souls with all the negativity.
You can be informed, but don't inundate yourself with it.
Listen to Music
Music is yet another simple, yet powerful tool that you can utilize to experience peace in the midst of a storm. Music can uplift your moods and spirits and music also has many wonderful health benefits as well.
Being a musician myself, I understand this power and utilize it in every part of my life. I even have play lists for everything and you can utilize these playlists for any situation or storm that may arise in your life.

Spend Time In Nature
Spending time in nature is great way to elevate your mood and spirit. Nature has an incredibly high vibration and simply spending time in nature will do the trick in the midst of a storm. What I love to do is spend time in nature while listening to music. Its a great combo. You will feel connected, at peace and refreshed.
You say what? Yes, I said it. Practice Gratitude! It may seem counterproductive to practice gratitude in the midst of a storm. I mean, how can you be grateful for something bad? The trick is being grateful for the good things in your life, despite the bad. Remember, the Law of Attraction is working and the more grateful you are, the more things that will appear in your life to be grateful for.
You can utilize the power of gratitude to weather any storm in your life.

Laugh, Laugh and Laugh Again
I am sure you have heard this before, but truly laughter is indeed the best medicine for you. Not only for your health, but also for your mood. Laughter releases endorphins (feel good chemicals) into your body. Laughter takes the focus off the bad, and allows you to experience good, despite what's going on around you. Isn't that awesome, that you have this secret weapon within you to combat anything? Use it to your advantage. Get some movies filled with comedy and start laughing!

Find the Peace Within
Joel Osteen said it best,
"A place of peace is a place of power"
Don't allow the storms of life to suck the energy from you.
Choose to live a life of peace, faith and power and no matter what storms may come your way, you can adjust your sail and experience peace.
